Participant selection: Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Criteria used to select participants in the study.
In: Cases:All female like-sexed twins born from 1886 to 1958 and included in the Twin Registry, diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the National Cancer Registry between 1958 and 1997 and whose female co-twin was alive and had no history of breast cancer at the time when the case patient was diagnosed. Potentially eligible controls were twin pairs with registered gestational age in the birth record. Ex: uncertain birth identification or unknown gestational age

Many women were born at home during the first half of the 20th century and had no birth record
